| Stations 66,77 and 34 were dispatched to the 100 block of Lincoln Rd in Perkiomen Twp. at 1441 hours for a reported car on fire inside a garage of a single family house.
Several additional calls were received by Montgomery County 911 reporting loud explosions taking place. With the additional calls, R53 (FAST) and R98 (Cascade) were added to the assignment. Some callers also reported 2 persons still in the house.
Chief 77 and Assistant 66-1 arrived on scene to find a two story single family home well involved with fire showing from all floors and through the roof. Medic 324 also arrived and confirmed that all occupants of the house were out with no injuries.
Chief 77 took "66 Command", Chief 54 and Assistant 66-1 took sector operations. Command requested additional engines and another ladder be dispatched. This added E73, E54, E86 and L54 to the call. Command was later turned over to Chief 66 when he arrived.
All firefighting operations were exterior due to the heavy fire conditions making it unsafe for firefighters to enter the fully involved house fire.
Ladder 77 went to work and used the aerial ladder pipe and a portable master stream to put large amounts of water on the fire. After about 2 hours the fire was declared under control.
Medic 324, Medic 336 and North Penn Goodwill Canteen were on location to provide firefighters with hot & cold drinks and food.
The American Red Cross also responded to assist the homeowners since the house and all the belongings were destroyed. Neighbors of the victims were kind enough to allow the victims to get warm inside their houses.
Once the fire was under control, Ladder 77 remained on location to assist the PSP Fire Marshall with aerial photographs and assist station 66 with overhaul operations and applying foam to the structure to eliminate any hot spots.
All 77 units were cleared and returned at 1911 hours.
