Early Morning Vehicle Crash with Rescue in Trappe

Station 77, Medic 324 and Rescue 34 were dispatched to the intersection of W. Main Street and First Ave in Trappe at 0709 hours for a report of a one car crash into a utility pole with injuries and entrapment.

Units arrived to find that a westbound SUV had struck a utility pole. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle by themselves and had minor injuries. The front passenger was trapped inside and needed to be extricated. Crews from both E77 and R34 used an assortment of tools to remove the doors and roof of the SUV. The total time the victim was trapped was about 30 minutes.

Medical crews from Trappe EMS (324) treated the trapped passenger, while Friendship EMS (325) treated the driver. The passenger was then transferred to Penn Star 4 medical helicopter to be flown to Penn Presby Trauma Center in Philadelphia.

Wynne's towing responded to remove the vehicle and fire police closed Main Street for about one and a half hours.

The accident is under investigation by PSP Skippack.
