Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Deputy Fire Chief Robert Greenwood
October 21, 2018

Station 77 had a very busy Sunday with a total of 6 calls for fire services. Volunteer crews responded to all 6 calls within an 8 hour time period starting at 11:12 when Engine 77 responded to a report of an electrical transformer explosion at 1604 Yeager Road. Chief 98 arrived quickly and found a tree branch on wire sparking and PECO was notified since no fire services were needed.

The next call was dispatched at 11:24 to assist Station 34 with a confirmed car fire with flames in the engine compartment. Engine 77 and TAC 77 responded and helped extinguish the car and were released by Chief 34 at 12:13.

At about 13:50 hours, Engine 77 was dispatched to cover Chester County 62 (Ridge Fire CO.) with Tanker 59 as the Ridge Fire Co was assisting Chester County Station 64 (Norco) with a fully involved house fire. Engine 77 was on stand by until 17:50 hours.

While Engine 77 was on the stand by assignment, Stations 54 and 98 were dispatched to cover Station 77 with a fire alarm at 1610 Main Street in Upper Providence Twp. Chief 77 arrived to a row of commercial stores and found the cause for the alarm to be from smoke generated from an arts & crafts party at the Crafty Corkscrew. While on scene the Gennaro's II - Chicago Style Pizza restaurant made and donated free pizzas to the volunteer firefighters. We thank Gennaro's II - Chicago Style Pizza greatly for their donation to the community.

At 17:13 hours, Stations 77 and 34 were dispatched to a fire alarm at the Flag Factory Lofts and all units were recalled at 17:22 hours as the alarm was set of by cooking.

The last call of the day was dispatched at 19:11 hours when Station 77 and Engine 98 responded to a report of electrical wires smoking at a house in the 900 block of S Lewis Road. Crews were on scene for an hour investigating the issue.

This was a very busy day for our members overall.

Units: E77, L77, 77 FP, TAC 77
