| The Trappe Fire Company just finished up another successful Fire Prevention Week from October 9th-15th. Volunteers visited 10 schools over six days in order to teach over 420 students about fire safety and prevention. Deputy Chief Bob Greenwood spoke at each event to teach children what to do in case of a fire. Kids were taught how to "stop, drop and roll and cover your face!" and "stay low and go", as well as what to do if they are trapped in their rooms by fire. Firefighters donned their gear so that the students could see what a responder might look like when they come into a house that is on fire. The students then got a tour of Ladder 77 and really enjoyed when one of the firefighters would climb the ladder and sound the siren. Thanks to all the schools that participated in this important event!! |
