Appliance Fire Turns into a Dwelling Fire

Station 34 and Ladder 77 were dispatched at 2356 to an appliance fire in the 100 block of Juniper Court in Upper Providence Township for a fire in the dryer. Ladder 77 (with five), Engine 34, and Chief 34 made the initial response. On arrival Chief 34 reported a heavy smoke condition at the front door and requested the next in Engine to lay in. Chief 34 requested the upgrade to the building fire and established Juniper command adding Lower Providence Fire Department, Black Rock Vol Fire Co., Perkiomen Township Fire Company and Medic 324. Crews found a dryer on fire inside the residence. It was confirmed that no occupants were inside the residence. Engine 34 deployed a 1-3/4” attack line while Ladder 77 crew threw ground ladders to exterior windows and then ventilated. Crews extinguished the fire which did not extend past the immediate laundry area. The fire is currently under investigation by the Upper Providence Township Fire Marshal.
