| At 1733 hrs on Saturday April 18th, Engine 77 along with other companies from Montgomery and surrounding counties, were dispatched to assist Station 27, Norristown, with a working warehouse fire at 500 East Washington Street.
Originally dispatched shortly before 1430hrs (2:30pm), Deputy 27 arrived on scene with a 2 story vacant warehouse, almost a city block in length, heavily involved, with heavy fire venting through the roof. Engine 77 arrived and reported to the staging area at Gretz Beverage. Shortly thereafter Engine 77 OIC was called down to the command post and the crew assisted Jefferson Fire Company, Station 46, with repacking nearly 1200 feet of supply line.
The crew was then released by 27cmmd, but was scheduled to come back to the scene at 4am to relieve already exhausted firefighters on scene. At 4am Engine 77 pulled up to the scene and supplied Tower 74, Souderton, with water and the engine's crew went in service with their blitzfire on the side of the building to attack a fire just inside the loading dock that was growing in intensity, while Tower 74's crew hit the fire from the air with monitors in their bucket.
After the fire was extinguished, 27 Command was broken down and Engine 77 was released after flowing nearly 910,000 gallons of water, shortly after 9am Sunday morning. |
