| Trappe's new Sprinter ambulance is now fully equipped and in service for duty. Its the first of its kind in our area! Designated 324-4, it's the first time Trappe EMS has ever had a fleet of 5 vehicles to serve the needs of our residents.
This new and unique rig is extremely cost effective, acquired at a savings of nearly sixty thousand dollars compared to the style of typical ambulances. It also will also save on fuel consumption by getting 17 mpg instead of the current 8 mpg. The Sprinter requires an oil change every ten thousand miles instead of the normal three thousand on American made small block diesel engines.
The Sprinter ambulance is equipped with Mercedes diesel engine and has a unique look and style that is comfortable for both our crews and patients. This type of chassis has been used in Europe for a numbers of years with great results. The rear of the vehicle is equipped with our new hi visibility stripe scheme to make it stand out at the scene of accidents.
To enhance safety, 324-4 has a camera mounted on the outside rear of the vehicle and a small LCD screen inside the cab to assist the driver in backing up. There is also a backup sonar system similar to that found in many SUV's and min-vans.
Be sure to wave to our crews as you see our new ambulance go by! |
