By Deputy Fire Chief Robert Greenwood
February 3, 2011
Ladder 77 was dispatched on the first alarm assingment for a house fire at 1541 hours. It was reported that a house on Cheyenne Rd was filling with smoke.
Police and DC98 arrived on scene reporting smoke showing. The fire was found in B/C corner of the basement heater/storage room, with fire extending to the front and first floor. Crews entered the house and used an 1 3/4 hose line to knock the fire.
Additional crews then checked the upper floors for extension and opened windows for ventilation, and did search and rescue. Some extension was found on the first floor laundry room. The fire was placed under control and crews remained on location for about an hour with overhaul.
Congratulations to the newly formed Station 98, Royersford Fire Department as a result of the merger between Humane and Friendship Fire Companies. We wish you good luck and safety to all.
