Trappe Fire Company visited several area schools during the week of October 8-12 to discuss how to prevent fires with the students. Topics included what to do in case of fire (dial 9-1-1), how to safely exit your house ("stay low and go"), where to meet once outside (family meeting spot), as well as several other useful tips. Firefighters dressed in their gear to let the children see what a firefighter may look like if they need to enter their home to search for them. The goal was to teach them to not be afraid and not to hide from them. The visits ended with the students taking a tour of the fire truck, always a favorite with the kids!! Trappe Fire Company ended up visiting with over 260 kids at 8 different schools/daycares, as well as attending an open house at Skippack Fire Station. Overall, Trappe participated in over 82 hours of fire prevention!
