You may have noticed that we are not posting a lot about COVID-19 on our social media recently. One of the main reasons for this is that we believe people should be taking medical information and government information directly from reputable sources.
For local residents we suggest https://data-montcopa.opendata.arcgis.com/pages/covid-19
Rest assured Trappe Fire and EMS are here and ready to respond to all 911 calls 24/7.
If you do call 911 for a medical emergency please be prepared to answer some screening questions. Please understand that the ambulance is being dispatched without delay and these extra questions that they ask you while we are on our way are to help ensure that our providers take the proper precautions when they arrive.
Our providers are properly trained and equipped to provide care for all residents including those who may have been exposed to, or sickened with, COVID-19. That being said we will be using enhanced precautions so don't be alarmed if the crew asks you to wear a surgical mask or take other actions to help us safely help you.
If your medical condition permits you may be asked to step outside of your house when we arrive and the crew may ask some additional questions to screen you prior to placing you in the ambulance. Again, necessary patient care will NOT be delayed during these screenings.
For the time being we will not be transporting family members or others to the hospital with patients unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Many residents have also asked how they can help us help you. As we have a very limited supply of personal protective equipment available, we are in urgent need of the following items:
- Disinfectant Cleaner - Disinfectant Wipes - Hand Sanitizer - Antimicrobial Hand Soap - N95 Masks (In original packaging) - Standard Healthcare Facemasks (In original packaging)
If you would be willing to donate any of these items to our EMT's and Paramedics please email info@trappefire.org, or call (610) 489-2700 x 102 to arrange for pick up.
Financial contributions can also help offset the increased expenses from purchasing additionally needed protective equipment.
We appreciate all the support everyone has shown over the past few weeks and thank you in advance for your ongoing support in the weeks to come.
Stay safe! |
