On Friday, May 16th, Trappe Fire Company assisted PECO and KaBOOM in the construction of the Michael J. Killian Memorial Playground in Water Works Park in Trappe. Water Works Park is located on 1st Avenue behind the shopping center. Despite the extremely wet weather, there was a full turnout of volunteers, over 250, from PECO, Trappe Fire Company and EMS, local groups, and the community. Michael J. Killian was a Limerick native, and an 18-year first class aerial linemen for PECO, killed while performing his job in January 2006. Trappe firefighters and EMS personel assisted in the construction of many parts of the playground, assembling playground equipment, planting gardens, spreading mulch, and pouring concrete. The project ran all day and was completed around 3pm. Despite the weather a great time was had by all who participated, and we are honored to have been able to participate in such a great cause for our community.
