Firefighter's spend the Fourth of July a little differently then most Americans. Trappe's Finest participated in two local events that are the building blocks of our areas July 4th Celebration.
After a round of last minute washing and truck polishing, the day started with all of our trucks participating in the Skippack Township Parade. The nearly 4½ hour event which winds its way down Route 113 and through the Village of Skippack was well attending because of this years cool weather. All the firefighters from the nearly 30 companies represented appreciate the applause and well wishes of the crowds that had gathered.
We all got a few hours to spend with our families and friends and then back on the trucks to standby at the Fireworks display at Waltz Golf Farm in Limerick Township. Despite the persistent on and off rain, the large crowd that gathered was treated to another fabulous display of fireworks that lasted just over 30 minutes. Ladder77 and Tac 77 stood by to protect the tree line, building just beyond the site of the firework launching. Traffic 77 and the Fire Police assisted with traffic control along Ridge Pike as the estimated 4,500 attendees arrived and left without incident.
