| The Trappe EMS strike team arrived in Alexandria, LA at 23:37 on Saturday night and checked in at the Emergency Operations Center there. They then had to complete check-in procedures and setup camp for the night. Since they were expected to be totally self-sufficient for the first 72 hours, they had no shelter arranged for them initially, so they have spent the first few nights in the strike team tents.
Sunday morning they were tasked with a handful of other PA ambulances for their first mission.
They were sent to Baton Rouge, LA to complete evacuations of hospitals and nursing homes there. The attached picture was taken by a West Shore EMS truck sent to Baton Rouge with the Trappe team as the convoy of ambulances made its was through the Louisana countryside.
Currently the team is providing medical care to the entire camp in Alexandria, including all of the emergency personnel and the 4,000 or so evacuees that are being sheltered there.
Please keep our team and the folks they are assisting in your thoughts. |
