| News from the South as of Sunday 9/7.
So our team's been working diligently staffing ERs, transporting patients, cleaning up churches, and eating gumbo. They've had all sorts of different missions, and sound like they are really enjoying their experience. There was a brief hickup in the plans when one of the team members had an unexpected visit by a GI bug, but all is well after a few liters of fluid, cipro, and about $1000 worth of Zofran.
Scott Mickalonis and Carl Flack (from the County and LImerick Fire Co.) are also working nonstop. Scott's dishing out the orders as they come in from LA and Carl's the go-to guy for anything you need, and apparently he's been doing an outstanding job unclogging sewers, wiring appliances to emergency vehicles, and just about anything else anyone needs down there.
So, they've spent the last few days in Zachary, LA and seems to have enjoyed it, even though they're still rather sleep-deprived. The most exciting news is that they've been released early and should be getting on the road as we speak. They'll be staying overnight in Knoxville, TN and expect to be home around 16:00 Monday.
We'll know more details tomorrow, but I'm sure they would appreciate it if there were a few people there to greet them, so feel free to stop by mid-late afternoon to see them briefly before they catch up with their family (and hopefully shower). |
