Mudslinging and it wasn’t even Election Day.

By Assistant Fire Chief John Rafner
November 4, 2008

The crews from Trappe made an unexpected stop in the fields off Linfield Trappe Rd. Originally detailed there to attend to several large controlled burn piles, the boys managed to bury both the engine and the TAC in some very soft gooey mud.

Ultimately the farmer who owned the property pulled Engine 77 back onto solid ground, but our TAC truck didn't fair quite as well. After a hour of pushing, pulling and head scratching, DeWane's Towing was called to give the TAC a little help getting back to firm ground.

The drivers of the two sinking fire trucks shall remain nameless until banquet time.

Thanks again to DeWane's towing for their fast and clever response (and most importantly for not laughing).

Units: Engine 77, TAC 77

Mutual Aid: DeWanes Towning, Mr. Taylor and his tractor
