Meet the Trappe EMS Team Leaders

EMS Chief – Clint Tichnell, EMT-P is responsible for all daily operations of the division.  He decided to begin a career in the EMS and Fire services after assisting the public following a rare but devastating tornado that ravaged several small communities in Western Maryland.  In 1999 he joined his local Fire Department and received training as a EMT/FF as well as Haz-Mat operations.   After working as a EMT for a short time and discovering the severe lack of Paramedics in the area, he enrolled in Maryland's Paramedic program, which he completed in 2000.  Since then he has worked in several different EMS systems obtaining experience in the field as well as in the Critical Care Transport and Emergency Room settings.

Assistant Chief – Chris DiPiano, EMT-B

Battalion Chief – Jeff Long, EMT-P began his EMS/FF career as a volunteer in 1991 with a local fire dept.  He got his feet wet on EMS calls and fell in love with helping people more than putting the wet on the red.  So, he went to EMT school, then attended paramedic school in 1998 and was certified in 2000.  He started here at TFCA in 1996 as a volunteer.  He has been through the ranks of EMS leadership, has sat on the executive board, and held other duties in different committees since.  He is currently the Battalion Chief and the purchasing manager for the station.  He also hold the title of Strike Leader for the station for the PA Region 13 EMS Strike Team.  He holds an array certifications as a Safety Officer, Haz Mat OPS, NIMS (multiple), EVOC instructor, CPR instructor, Vehicle Rescue Technician, Exterior FF, which are all in addition to the regular EMS certifications that are needed to be a paramedic in the great state of PA.

Captain – Paul Giannini, NREMT-P, CCEMT-P is a 28 year veteran of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services.  Starting in Connecticut as a volunteer EMT and Firefighter in 1983, Paul became a Paramedic in 1986.  He worked as a career Firefighter-Paramedic until 1995 when he was hired as the QA and Training Manager for the New England Division of American Medical Response.  Paul moved to Pennsylvania in 2001 and has worked at Trappe since 2002.  Paul also volunteers with the Limerick Fire Company and is a member of the Montgomery County Hazardous Materials Team.  In addition to his EMS career, Paul is the Director of Clinical QA and Training for CardioNet, Inc., a heart monitoring company in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.  Paul is responsible for all community education (CPR, First Aid, etc.), community support (ambulance stand-by) and liaison events.  Paul is the grant writing manager, and is responsible for all fund-raising activities at the service.
