Station 66 Perkiomen Township Fire Company along with Engine 34 Collegeville Fire Company Engine 51 Limerick Fire Department and Ladder 77 were dispatched to a dwelling fire on Burgess Drive in Perkiomen Township around 3:54 P.M.
Deputy Chief 66 arrived on scene with an odor of something burning and smoke showing from the roof which had solar panels. Lower Providence Fire Department , Royersford Fire Department , and Medic 324 were added to the assignment.
Engine 66 arrived on scene as the first due engine, pulled a line to the B side, and secured a water supply. Ladder 77 arrived on scene as the first due truck and was directed to the roof on the A/ B side. Ladder 77’s crew found a solar panel on fire along with a birds nest under the solar panel. Ladder 77s crew safety extinguished the fire and checked for extension. The interior crew checked the attic with negative extension. A solar panel technician came and safely removed two solar panels from the roof. Crews remained on scene until being released at 6:45 P.M.
